Ummmmm I'm going to disagree with you and say I have no ill-thought biasms towards Metallica. They made a shit album and they are paying for it. If any other band had done this album, it might not have been as big a catastophe. But thats because Metallica had an ok track record up until this point. When you make music as good as their first 4 albums and compare it with this, you can see why Metallica is getting ass raped across the music industry.

I definitely agree with you that it's screwed up Metallica's rep. That's for damn sure and I completely agree that they should be for releasing this pile of steaming crap compared to their earlier works (MoP, ..AJFA, RtL etc.). But if any mainstream metal band had released this album, kids would have gone nuts.

also james' vocals were all wrong for this. he is trying to use his load/reload voice for this. vocals from say the MOP of justice days would have made this better.
it actually is not my least favorite metallica album though. justice and load are.
as far as it being made for teenagers. i think it was made strictly for themselves to be honest. the lyrics honestly tell what the band was going through.

the reason he sounds the way he does on St. Anger isn't because he chose to sing in a Load/reload style, it's because he's old and his voice sucks. He wouldn't be able to sing like he did 20 years ago if he tried.

St. Anger to me isn't all that bad, especially compared to some of the awful tripe I've heard in recent years. To me, the production was the only thing wrong with the album. I'm not a guitarist, and so the lack of solos doesn't bother me.
