gave this another chance.. i just don’t feel that unrestrained passion and ambition of youth oozing from this album like i did with periphery 1. where did that mystique,,, that sense of palpable wistfulness from the melodies go? the compositions on their debut had moments of tension and release of absolute MONOLITHIC scale. the stuff on this album though? seems divorced to me from the reality of the music's frequent moments of tedium, glaring inoffensiveness, lack immediacy and aggression.
every once in a while i hear that a band has put out a more "mature" album, and every time i hear it i have to be cautious. i guess this is periphery’s “mature” album. just like A/O and Clear were >_____>
also is it just me or has Spencer’s been sounding fucking obnoxiously nasal lately.
