well they had to get the chicks
|
| |
That's actually a good point. Genesis did the same, although sometimes they were too cheesy with the lyrics, while in the case of opeth Mikael, still writes this incredible stories.
|
| |
But yeah, a decade ago they would probably have been the second band I could think of after rush who has none female followers.

I mean, and then there were three was descent, but listening to follow you, follow me is that "this song doesn't even make sense in the context of the album"
|
| |
But you know what? I don't care if I go to a concert and there are no chicks, I'm a virgin, It will not make any difference.

I’ve only been listening to metal properly for 18 months & Still Life was my first & now favourite jam, coincidence? Probably not. Happy to have opened up this new world.

20 months then, I think. I’ve been listening to metal a lot longer than that (around a decade) but not in depth, used to be an indie kid. I’m reborn as a metal-head, now it’s mostly what I listen to (although I do like other stuff still).

I still listen to a lot of other stuff, especially electronic music, post-rock etc. Metal is my new love. I started out as SunlightCityDrive on here, guess my new username/av appears ‘more metal’.

Oh shit that's mad haha, 'SunlightCityDrive' is such a stark contrast. Your new profile is metal af tho so respect on that m/

Demon you have surprised me
|

Also, this has some of the best Mikael chords.
Album is like the midway point between their early, blackened material and their sleeker, songwriting focused 2000's stuff.

Yeah this album captures a strange time and place. The band feels caught between the past and the future in a very distinct way.

It's where they started to realize the full potential of their sound, although I like their first two albums a lot

Yeah, totally agree. It's a weird and wonderful blend of old and new. It's also their best.

THE RAIN WAS WAVING GOODBYEEEEEEE

Demon of the Fall is probably some of the sharpest songwriting they have ever had during this era.
20 years later it still goes hard as shit
