Guess we'll agree to disagree (Scary Monsters is his best imo)

one issue with Heathen I have is that it has too many covers (all of them are good, but I can live without the Pixies and Neil Young covers, which could've been b-sides instead of Wood Jackson and the remake of Shadow Man)

Nah The Next Day was the best thing he did in like 15 years or whatever year Earthling came out

" but I can live without the Pixies and Neil Young covers"

Pretty sure that's because you don't like Pixies ;) (not sure how you feel about Neil Young)

I have Surfer Rosa at a 4

Young's '69-'75 period ranging from 4 to 5

He didn't need to include four covers on Heathen, as good as they are.

Earthling is ok, but it doesn't even compare to Heathen TVC

Every song on here is great, but I Can’t Give Everything Away might be my new favorite. Similar to the t/t on Skeleton Tree, it wraps up the record in a very bittersweet and cathartic way. Can't beat those horns either.

the Dollar Days/I Can't Give Everything Away duo is such a brilliant way to end the album (and the career)

I've been obsessed by the title track lately. Absolutely brilliant

Title track grew so hard on me. The swagger in his voice after the trippy voice modulation passage at the beginning of the song is so badass and sexy

So defiant and confident in his proclamation of his own death. I'm a blackstar.

This one is huge.So artistic,progressive sound.The production is great,awesome vocals,really good songs.

And the lyrics..the guy is writing about his death for fuck's sake.

David Bowie was/is a true poet of our times.

Starting to construct my Top 25 list right now (subject to change over much of December) and even though I had about 5 albums rated higher than this, it keeps finding its way into my top 3. I just can't imagine 2016 without thinking about this album and its impact right away.
