There isn't a single song on this that I wouldn't put on a "Best Prog Metal" list.

Cockroach King is the best thing ever, but I still prefer Virus actually

Any love for In Memoriam on this album? I feel it gets lesser attention as being a shorter track here, but I think it’s possibly the band’s finest song

Agreed, absolutely love that track. It’s the song I listen to most from them

It took me literally all these years to understand this albums very simple concept, god I'm so stupid. To be fair, when I first heard this album, I had no idea about the story of Sysyphus or whatever. Anyways, I finally fully understand it. Could REALLY do without "Because It's There" and "Somebody" though, "Pareidolia" is the perfect closer.

@OmairSh /m/

@Tundra ah man Because It's There is super important for the album's pacing (Falling hits even harder because of it) and Somebody is one of the best closers to a prog metal album ever imo, fits the themes of the album greatly too

I've never listened to this band. I adore queensryche and don't like Dream Theater except for IaW. Fates Warning has been hit or miss for me. Should I start here?

Don't think that style of prog is found a whole lot in this band. This album has a lot of 70's prog worship, mixed with the metal sensibilities of 00's era Dream Theater. Based on what you're saying you might dig Affinity most

I would argue The Mountain is a perfect starting place but only because Affinity it not nearly as strong (but it has grown on me).

@Guy oh man, you're in for a treat. One of my all-time favorite bands; their particular blend of prog metal is absolutely marvelous. This album is killer, though Affinity is my favorite out of all of them by a small margin. High quality stuff across the board.

Whew. Almost tapped out at Cockroach King. I absolutely do not like the quirky stuff, no amount of concept can save it. It's what killed BTBAM for me, and is a non-starter for a host of other prog bands.

In Memoriam is like 98% killer though, so I'll ride this out.

If you don't like quirk, there's at least one song on every one of their albums that is going to rub you the wrong way. But hopefully that's not enough to turn you off from the whole.
