Same fam, I never got into this one. I do like a couple of tracks on here, 'Voices' being one of my absolute faves from the new-era Chains - but I never do a full playthrough of this record :/ it is definitely bloated.

I know someone just said they liked it… sorry, but that mid record run of Breath on a Window - Scalpel - Phantom Limb is what kills it imo. Cut the first two and shave down Phantom Limb a nudge and bam, record is about as long as BGWTB.



Shit, Low Ceiling nearly joins that list but is saved by having one of the best solos of Jerry’s career

From what I remember Hung on a hook, Phantom limb and The devil put dinosaure here were my favs on the album, I haven't listened to it in ages though.



There was an incredible atmosphere on this album imho (probably due to indeed many overlong songs and some refreshing semi acoustic ones in between + some good bangers at the beginning) and that's why I rated it so high (also I was working one week straight away from home when it was released and I listened to it on headphones pretty much all the evenings of that week cos I had nothing else to do...).



With good headphones on Alice in chains extra shine, we all know it...

I feel like it flows better if you put "Breath on a Window" between title track and "Lab Monkey". "Scalpel" is probably the only song I could do without.
