“did u hit a crackpipe or something while listening to Mesmer?? cuz that album is hot garbo”
I’ve listened to that one the least so I can’t really comment on it but Node and Alien are way better than the first two

Do you not like Adrian's meaty lows?
That's cool if that's your opinion, but I think we are basically on polar opposites of the Northlane coin haha. The first two are 5's and the others are no better than a 2.5 for me.

Damn, I am genuinely interested in the new album now. Discoveries sucks hard, but given Space Jester's comment, I guess it is possible to like the new one without being fond of the earlier stuff.

Check it out dude, you might like it. They're a completely different band now.

I never thought I'd see the day where Jester likes a Northlane album, too bad it's not one that I like lmao

Northlane was never really a band I had listened to just because of what I’d heard of their sound, but I guess I liked the artwork for Alien and decided to check it. I really liked the way they incorporated the electronic and edm elements, gives it a really fun cyberpunk-ish vibe. I did a discog run after that and the first two just did not do anything for me at all, but I liked Node. I hardly remember Mesmer

Node is solid, Mesmer is muddy average unforgettable woke-core, and Alien is a step up. Though nothing will beat the heaviness and frantic/erratic moments that are on songs like Scarab and Aspire for me tbh

"We have to stop consuming our culture.
We have to create culture.
Don't watch TV.
Don't read magazines.
Don't even listen to NPR.
Create your own road show.
The nexus of space and time
where you are now
is the most immediate sector of your universe.
And if you're worrying about
Michael Jackson or Bill Clinton or somebody else
then you're dissempowered.
You're giving it all away to icons.
Icons which are maintained by an electronic media.
So that you want to dress like X or have lips like Y, or some-
This is shit-brained this kind of thinking.
That is all cultural diversion.
And what is real is you
and your friends and your associations
your highs, your orgasms
your hopes, your plans, and your fears.
And we're told:
'No.'
'We're unimportant.'
'We're peripheral.'
'Get a degree.'
'Get a job.'
'Get a this.'
'Get a that.'
And then you're a player.
You don't even want to play in that game.
You want to reclaim your mind
And get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers.
Who want to turn you into a half-baked moron
consuming all this trash that's being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.
Where is that at?"

Good for him, I guess that's a decent reason to leave a metalcore band lol. Still selfishly wish he never left though. Imagine having three more Adrian albums and never having heard a Marcus album. What a world it would be...
