This is their best album.

this album is incredibly tedious imo. it's lacking the melody and atmosphere of albums like snw and diamond eyes. admittedly there are some great tracks (entombed, tempest, rosemary) but overall it's like a diet-version of deftones. the first 4 tracks are all completely forgettable

the only consistency this album has is in its boredom factor

Most consistent, best paced, best produced, etc etc etc it just kicks ass

the production is excellent but the choruses are exceptionally dull on most songs, the guitar riffs all sound the exact fucking same which makes it hard to differentiate songs at times. i love all the little details in snw. that album has a uniform atmosphere but there's so much variety there, and the perfect dichotomy of melody and aggression

also a lot of songs have a 1 or 2 minute outro that all sound pretty much the exact same. some guitar rift carrying a generically 'heavy' outro

yeah, all the cuts on this rule and have the band's best songwriting. The ONLY issue is that it doesn't have tracks on the T R A N S C E N D E N T A L level of Hexagram or Riviere.

I think What Happened To You? Is a top 3 Deftones song though
