i feel sorry for the guy in the weeknd. he'll have to fololow this up with an even better album while covered with massive layers of everyone's dried up splooge.

and if it's not as good, well he'll have to chip away at the crusty sidings all by himself because people are fickle...

well, in all honesty, i can only spend time on here at work since the computer at home committed suicide last year. I like to write on many topics within' the time frame of my boss going out for a smoke break and her returning...

1) Dev wins 5 sputpoints. Radiohead (although I enjoy them) is fawned over much more than the weeknd

He didn't need to make a rebuttal because nobody was making any points this is just a stupid statement cleverly disguised as a joke that's been beat to death by numerous people about numerous bands.

"Radiohead (although I enjoy them) is fawned over much more than the weeknd"

of course, but when has radiohead ever tried their best to cater to the masses and make contrived music??? (saying this in regards to not just the weeknd, but the other bands i mentioned a page back...)

eh, you know what, don't respond to this. i only wanted to stir up a hornets nest and waste time at work with funny/interesting conversations. if i wanted to troll, i'd maybe, say go to the blink 182 thread on their new song and explain how it's a good progression from their last effort... 0_o"

except when you say that it makes you look completely retarded cause I mean when did The Weeknd "cater to the masses and make contrived music"? When they released a standard billboard top 100 pop song?

alright eatdogs if you're going to ruffle feathers don't try and make it alright by telling us you're just ruffling feathers. it doesn't make it alright. this album is amazing, but i think your problem is that you don't really like this style of music at all. so it's not really an interesting opinion to look at (yours that is)

wait wait wait, please explain a little bit more to me about "this style". if its in regards to, say RnB, then i really do like that style, but if this has become it's own seperate genre that i have no clue whatsoever of knowing, then explain what it is i hate...

well, ahem... i guess i could say the masses like the people who spend a lot of time on sites like this and other well known places. (p4k...) i never thought that, the weeknd, was going for the top 100. i'm sure he knew what he was doing/going for when he made this music. but like everyone else, i'm just making an opinon on the music and i could have taken my criticism to any other thread and hurt people there...

i've already stated my dislike for this album, but from what i said, it stirred up some people who, otherwise would have not liked me to say what's on my mind. "hey, if you don't like it, then why do you post on it??? the weeknd is amazing, OMG!!!"

oh, and this is not to be making my mark, or whatever here. there are too many users on this site to even notice little ol' me...

what R & B do you like?

"what R & B do you like?"

i'm an old fart who had to listen to a lot of the classic stuff with my parents, sooooooo i guess:

al green
chaka kahn
barry white
luther vandross
smokey robinson
the temptations
sam cooke

yeah, that's all old stuff. tons of mowtown classics, stax records...

as for newish type stuff, i'm probably behind, but neo-soul was totally awesome in the late 90's, early 2000's.

jill scott
lauren hill
the roots (to a point...)
d'angelo
janet jackson (the velvet rope only...)
mary j blige
erika badu
tony rich

and my personal favorite, maxwell. (i always thought he never got enough cred...)

oh, and just to say this, i really hate slow jamz, or whatever that t-pain, chris brown, usher, (brokencyde) auto tuned crap is...

"Usher - Confessions is the sexyest nostalgia jamz ever"

i just never like the guy. sure he's talented, but his music never did anything for me, plus i think he's responsible for that justin bieber kid, but of course i can understand the potential to make millions that he saw in front if him...

Can't you even appreciate the production on this? It's kind of awesome

@dcha

It is a mixtape. If he thought it was an album, he'd call it his debut album

honestly, i do love lo-fi quality stuff, or organic whatever bedroom recordings and what not. (the first toro y moi album and how to dress well are some of my recent faves) but this wasn't for me...
