At first I thought the lyrics Rody wrote were really immature, then I realized that the only immature lyrics are the ones Arif wrote on this one. Rody sings about dealing with cancer (I assume his mom), he sings about how horrible the music industry is (forcing contracts, and allowing people who do nothing to make big money off of poor bands), he sings about problems facing anyone as they grow up (getting drunk to face every day problems), he sings about quitting smoking, and his difficulty with it... yes he does have some immature songs (lyric wise) as well ...

but the ones Arif wrote are about suicide, how difficult road life is (I never like when bands sing about how difficult life on the road is, I like the song instrumentally, but the lyrics are like they're complaining about something most people wish they could have) and finally about leaked sex tapes... all kind of lame in comparison to some of the issues Rody was singing about. But I personally can give Arif a break after Kezia and Fortress, in fact, he might have just been crafting the next story to perfection and writing some fillers for us.

Just because everyone wishes they had it doesn't mean it's a good thing

So many don't enjoy Rody's vocals at all on this album, but I personally don't see that at all. He's incredibly talented, and in every song it seems that he contributes to its direction quite meaningfully.
And the same with the album "having a lack of direction", for that matter. I can understand for a couple of songs in the center, namely "Dunsel" and "The Reign of Unending Terror", but only kind of, sort of. Songs like "Hair-Trigger", "Tandem" and "Tongue-Splitter" seem to have a very prominent structure, and I can't quite place my finger on why so many people claim that this album is a jumbled mess.

Rody's vocals made this album what it is for me. same with the lyrics i enjoy these way more than Arif's. better musicianship as well.

I'm glad that you enjoy it but I wouldn't call the musicianship on Scurrilous better... I would call it more organised.

It wasn't, that thing is useless. You could get a low-end laptop for that price with an at least average processor and do more than an iPad ever could

Because it is. Well, slightly jumbled. The album seems to have no real focus. I'm not saying the music is bad- I rather like it- but Fortress felt like it meant something. I mean, the individual songs have meaning, but it doesn't feel like a whole; instead, it's like a collection of good songs.

it's like a collection of good songs.

Like most albums, unless if they are a concept album of course...

The more I listen to this the more I realize it's their best album.

Doesn't matter if you like Rody's vocals best on Kezia, Fortress or this. The bottom line... he still can't sing live.

I must admit that his screams don't translate very good live but his cleans are great.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKxobxjfvxI&feature=related sound quality sucks but whatever

Have you all been seeing the same footage of Rody live as I? Both of their live DVD's are pretty 'lolbad', predominately due to Rody. Admittedly he has gotten better over the years, but he is still eons from sounding anything like he does on record.

If someone could gladly point me to some footage of him singing well live, I will happily retract my aforementioned statements.

Also, his 'scrams' really do diminish his live performances. Really really bad. Now, Arif's harsh vocals on the other hand.

idk, Rody definitely wrote stuff thats almost impossible to replicate live (Fortress especially), but he mostly fixed that with Scurrilous

Rody's always had a bit of trouble working with monitors, or without, and he's had a tendency to shout or go off key because of it. He's gotten much better though, especially now that he's getting the chance to sing his own words.

Rody has one of the best voices out there. But "best" doesn't mean he has a vocal variety. His screams are bad.Yes,he may have got better over the years but he still sounds bad live when he's trying to scream.
