just getting into bm. I've heard some that I really like so far (bathory, ulver, few others) but I'm gonna be really surprised if I end up liking the genre more than dm or thrash

only bm i've heard is agalloch, ulver, alcest (all of which aren't straight up bm)
also tried darkthrone and ash borer

bm is great because there are so many completely unique bands in the genre. more versatility in the bands than most death metal IMO

I've never been a big fan of Black Metal and I doubt I ever will tbh. I actually liked it more when I was younger but still never got into it properly. Still like some stuff like this and Ulver though.

black metal has that atmosphere though. from the epic summoning to the cold and atmospheric burzum, to the desolate and depressing dsbm bands.

rly though, dm and thrash have tons of passion and riffs and I know there's a lot of that there in bm, I just seem to like the overall sound of dm and thrash more.
but I digress, still need to dig further through bm.

Yeah Keyblade I can apreciate the atmosphere but a lot of it doesn't have much lasting appeal for me for some reason. Who knows, maybe that'll change one day.

one of the more effective albums at creating an atmosphere that I've heard. The Lodge honestly might be my favorite part of this.

I think I'm gonna go through their whole discography today. At least the full-lengths. I'm snowed in with nothing better to do. Seems like a perfect time to listen to Agalloch.
