Uh-oh dude, you've just opened the gates for retards to bombard the thread telling you that breakdowns and gang vocals are only found in hardcore and that any band with breakdowns has hardcore influence.

Periphery is repetitive, sure, but at least it's innovative. The main complaint with The Powerless Rise seems to be that it's too generic, something that Periphery did not possess at all.

"I even listened to over half of this the other night and all I remember is they played fast. None of it stuck with me."

If you don't like this album you are not a fan of metalcore, period (which most trolls have openly
said already). If you are not a fan of metalcore, then your opinion on a metalcore album really is
useless. Therefore, quit trolling the thread with your useless and rather bothersome outlook on a good
album.

what a bullshit argument, I don't see how not liking a generic been-done-a-million-times-before album means you're not a metalcore fan.

i like this album and even I'll admit that this is generic as all get out.

I admit I do enjoy trolling the review site, but this is me being sincere. This is a poor excuse for metalcore, compared to some of the classics that are out there. Just becuase I don't like this generic album doesn't mean I'm not a fan of metalcore, I am a huge fan of this genre, but I have a feeling you're not too familiar with some of the classics that are out, and no I'm not just talking Converge, Botch and Poison the Well here.
Go listen to Knut, Taken, Skycamefalling, Deadguy, Kiss it Goodbye, 7 Angels 7 Plagues, Disembodied, Unbroken, Buried Alive and Buried Inside, for a sense of real metalcore, played how it's suppose to i.e. to me it should always sound like a HARDCORE band playing METAL.

props for name dropping Deadguy and Unbroken guy that I've never seen before

I used to post on the review site more when i was younger, out of boredom I've wandered from the forums over here the past few days.
Things haven't changed much, apart from theres more people here.
Who knows, I might drop a few metalcore and dubstep reviews over the summer. Musically that's where my strengths lay.

After re-listening to Shadows are Security and Frail Words Collapse, Tim's vocals have improved so much and are so good on here.

This album is a huge improvement. While they did have some awesome stand out tracks on their previous albums, this is the first album that is listenable as a whole.
