So many resplendent melodies and sounds on this album. Nearly every song is not just good but excellent, and there are a plenitude of thrilling individual moments. I really like their synthy take on rock music. I could see someone finding Travis annoying but the “intellectual” approach to pathology gives neither intellect nor pathology short shrift, his lyrics are standout good and most lyrics are mediocre to bad so I’m not complaining about that element either

For me it was senior year of high school, but yeah, those anxious and alienated vibes hit hard as a teenager
