"what makes you say that mr. contrib"
This riffs harder and has more energy even if it's not as focused. DOTU might be a more mature song craft but it's also more tired and weary.

Do you find cornell's vox to be a bit over the top on this? That's one of the things that bugs me a bit with this album

They are over the top (Slaves/Bulldozers and JCP especially) but it doesn't make them any less amazing imo

yea cornell's vocals kinda irked me on this one, think he really mastered them on superunknown

The over singing is part of the appeal! This is one of the best metal albums the 90s and Cornell's wailing is a big part of the reason why.

Interesting, I never heard a single word against Cornell's vocals before.

Same here. Love his performance, his belting is so strong on here. It took its toll on him though, but that's the price you pay being this kind of rock singer, I guess

Yeah for real. Cornell really wasn't the same after Superunknown.

Me too, but you can't deny he changed after SU. Still a brilliant singer an musician though

Cornell sounded great on record for DOTU and Audioslave, but live was a different matter. He struggled pretty badly until about 2010 or so when I think he began taking vocal lessons and started improving.

He definitely cleaned up his technique in his later career.
