Oh for sure, agreed.

I really like the tommorow never knows/within you without you mashup on Love, which was on Beatles rockband.
Actually Beatles rockband was my first real deep dive into their music. Game was awesome.

Never played Rockband, or any other rhythm game except for Vib Ribbon.

My first dive into the band was on Spahn Ranch. Charlie played it all time talking about Helter Skelter while hanging out the back of me mum. Good times.

"A couple pages ago was just a celebration of a fantastic remaster for this album"
The conversation that followed after the "applaud" was over, was much more interesting imo

breathless praise only please

I mean that’s fair, reasonable criticisms are always welcome. But a broad criticism of “the Beatles represent commercial crap” isn’t a reasonable criticism of this remaster of this album. Hell, in the “intellectual” conversations of the last few pages no one has reference one second of the music on this record. Frankly, I don’t care how commercial they are, I just enjoy the music.
And celebration doesn’t have to be fun to read, it’s supposed to be a collective “fuck yeah”

Changing my rating to a 6/5.

sigh
What actual songs do you not like on this album?
|
| |
If I remember correctly, because the last time I listened to this was like 6 months ago at least, I dislike:
Revolution 1
Revolution 9 (this one is the reason why I would give this a rating even lower than 2.0, if I could)
Good Night
Dear Prudence
Wild Honey Pie
The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill
Why Don't We Do it in the Road?
I Will
Cry Baby Cry
There's material here for like a 3.0 or even a 3.5 though.

In the mean time I’ll talk about what I do like.
USSR is like a piece of anti-propaganda. Instead of painting Russians as cold psychopaths, they made it sound like a regular place with regular people. And I’m hearing the bass in the mix and gotdamn it’s tasty.
In dear prudence not only do I love the guitar arpeggios, but the story of stepping out of your comfort zone is freeing.
Gently Weeps has this almost menacing, muddy vibe to it that intoxicates me.
Love the delivery particularly in Rocky Raccoon, there’s so many little lyrical images that transport you to the western saloon atmosphere. Honestly that’s one of my favorite parts about this album. Every song has a distinct identity.

Have you seen the little piggies

In response to ur songs, revolution 9 is understandable obviously. Cry baby cry is my least favorite real song on this album. Wild honey pie is certainly weird but still has it’s identity and like after awhile it just sinks into your mind and you shout along with those drunk hillbillies even tho you know it’s psycho.
I will and do it in the road are simple, but work in the album because they are adjacent. It’s a transition that’s sure to get ur attention. Plus I think do it in the road is hilarious and full of an animalistic spirit. I will has a great little melody to it to, it’s a song I appreciated much much more when I learned to play it on guitar.
Most people prefer Revolution to Revolution 1 which is fair but I genuinely like Revolution 1 quite a bit. It’s just got this loose jam vibe to it that feels so relaxed, I just think it works with their “rebellious hippie” aesthetic. Also the horn section in that song is killer.
Not liking dear prudence is shocking.
A lot of these songs particularly work within the context gf the album.

The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill is great, especially with the backstory since Bungalow Bill was a real person the Beatles met in Inida :P
|

Eh, I dislike every version of Revolution tbh.

Rev 9 is a masterpiece and I will defend it until I drop
also the new mix is baller and finally bit the bullet on picking up the LP, Helter Skelter just pops out of the speakers and strangles you while you're at it
|
| |
Oh yeah forgot to mention Bungalow. That ones also a little odd but it’s so damn goofy that I still love it. Plus I love the backstory. I had this book that goes into the back stories of every Beatles song and the white album section was by far the most interesting.

Wait, you like Revolution 9?... Why?

It’s not a song, that’s why
