I think the problem is mostly how the vocals are mixed here, many of the songs on Unloved And Weeded Out are from the same era but sound miles better because the vocals are higher in the mix. Here the result is that the screaming sounds weak at times and the out of tune singing just sounds like he is whining nonsense from somewhere behind some pretty decent riffs - the same style of vocals were much better handled on UAWO imo
