So i started off just tryna write a sound-off for this but it somehow has turned into a full fledged review. I don't know whether I should blame the adderall for giving me the extra focus or Immolation for raping my soul then devouring my spirit, seizing my body for their own nefarious deeds, like writing another 5 review for them, or not keeping kosher.

This was a grower, I had this at a 4 until recently. I listened to it the other day for the first time in a few months and for some reason it blew me away and has ever since. The new Ulcerate was a grower for me too, I thought it was just alright at first but now I really like it.



Immolation will always be easily identifiable as Immolation and their style is securely their own but I definitely think bands like Mitochondrion, Ulcerate and even a group like Portal show an obvious influence from an album like this, combining atmosphere with technical skill. Especially with new Ulcerate I can easily see comparisons to Immolation's style of death metal although Immolation I would say still have more of "traditional" OSDM riff-heavy presence at times whereas Ulcerate focuses a lot more on atmosphere.
