Why's that? He's never been my fav lyricist but some of his poetry is pretty poignant, even on this album.

I just read parts like that in the song as emulating a nihilistic, angst-ridden teen (among other issues in the song like bipolar disorder and increasing dependence on pills). Is it the best, most sophisticated way to go about writing such lyrics? Perhaps not, but I think it fits with the song's overall goal. It also kind of speaks to the nihilist in me, both in how I was in high school (ugh) and even now, so, yeah.

well actually the earlier psych stuff was non nonsensical and actually fit the music well, then with stupid dream/lightbulb sun it got more distracting but wasnt too bad, in absentia/dead wing were ok too but this and the incident have some real bad shit

In Absentia has incredible lyrics. Several of his other albums have good ones as well. Y'all are crazy pants.

Terrible is a strong word

His lyrics are very up and down, calling them all terrible is ridiculous though.

Now that I've been getting into this album, I think it's safe to say it might be a good thing I didn't get into this when I was in high school.

Tourists have too much time and money to bother with books, they spend both of them on traveling.
