I love how this album tastefully tows the line of post hardcore and metalcore into its own sound

Officially decided to tackle PTW’s discog (gonna do Converge or Alexisonfire next). So started with this album as it’s considered their best, just to see if I jive with it, then jump back to the beginning and go chronologically.
But the more I listen to this, the more I can’t stop. Was great first listen, but at this point, I can see this becoming one of my favorite albums of all time.
Ghostchant, Meeting for the First Time and especially Apathy is a Cold Body, are the highlights, but it’s great front to back.
Eventually I have to jump back to the debut album, but finding it hard to tear away from this.

Opposite is my favorite due to personal connection but you're not wrong this is their best album. Just never gets old

Yeah still spinning it daily. The Realist has really grown on me as well.
For that matter, the two new singles are as well. Thoroughbreds goes fucking hard towards the end. Everything Hurts has a pretty cringe title (reminds me of Mudvayne’s cringe titles Hurt People Hurt People, and Sticks n Stones). But the song is so much better than the title implies, has a great fucking swooping chorus.
Really looking forward to the album

I can't wait for the new one. Avoiding the singles because I love this band and want to judge the album on its own merits without preconceptions. Seeing positive reception here gives me even more hype

I always took the title of Everything Hurts as just growing old. But I also pulled my back last week so that's what has been on my mind.

I try not to listen to singles. Sometimes the first single. But I’m not a fan of that dropping a third of the album shit. I avoid most movie trailers as well, especially these days (only ones I see are in the theater).
But, you won’t be disappointed. Don’t wanna overhype though.
@concubinary — that’s hilarious (sorry you pulled your back though). That’s a good take on it. It could be on the nose, but with multiple meanings. I’m 44 now so I feel dat, yo.
I’m assuming I’m around the same age as the PTW guys, give or take a few.

Damn, now The View From Here… is really growing on me. It has been growing steadily and incrementally, but slower than the other tracks. But just has a nice fucking riff, a cool vibe.

this one took a few listens to really hit me. maybe because the hooks aren't as immediate as you'd expect from post-hardcore. loving it now. really nice amount of variety and atmosphere. flows well as an album. back half really hits stride, apathy and end of the world back to back is crazy. i think apathy might be their best song. lovely emo melodies. great builds. love jeffrey as a vocalist too, ideal for this sound. really powerful but excellent enunciation where you can hear every word he's saying.
think the lack of huge hooks holds it back a touch for me but amazing album.

Happy you dug this one my brother! The hooks will uncover themselves in time tho not as immediate as ones on the first two. Still hold that Zombies is one of their catchiest and hardest joints 🤘

Loving the new album. Perfect mix of their old metalcore sound with the post-hardcore / experimental direction they went with YCBY, Versions and Tropic Rot.

“think apathy might be their best song.”
Yeah completely agree. Plus Ghostchant and You Will Not Be Welcomed.
Love Lazzarro and Turn Down Elliott as well.
