I did not open any can of worms by pointing out that this conversation is dumb as fuck

Calling both rapists when one isn't is certainly something.

Both absolutely are wtf

Jesse didn't rape anybody. He did a lot of predatory, awful things but let's not just go making shit up.

He did disgusting reprehensible things, but no one has come forward saying they were raped, unless I'm missing something.
Edit: lightandglass beat me to it.

There’s a song on this album (Desert) that straight up calls out bigoted American Christians/conservatives, I’m gonna say nobody in the band is a Trump stan

Oh, pardon me. One of them is a child groomer that would have been a statutory rapist given the opportunity. What a gaffe.

lol so now we’re just calling people rapists because we think they probably wanted to rape people despite not doing so after undoubtedly having hundreds of opportunities during two decades of touring

by the time you get into the nitty gritty over whether JL wanted to strike while the iron was hot, or whether he was minded to be a good boy and wait until any of the multiple accusing parties were through with high school, you know you've picked a stupid fucking hill to die on

This has been my favorite recurring sput argument since 2017.

The amount of hay made out of "self-absorbed sad sack loser musician conducts himself like a self-absorbed sad sack loser with girls and women" and then left to moulder until it caused a bonfire in the sad sack loser barn is really a sight to behold

Remember the days when no one gave a shit whether or not 'prestige artists' were good people or not. What happened lol. When I was a teenager, Roman Polanski uncontroversially swept the Oscars while hiding in France on rape charges and it was just understood that the value of the art triumphed over all. Shit I was just at an art exhibit here in LA the other day that mentioned "Picasso's 15-year-old lover" with a shrug

oh the times they are a changin

Curious that the "separate the art from the artist" crowd is casting member berries for Roman Polanski and running a fine-toothed comb on statutory. When will the music get brought up? lol

Someone else shifted the conversation away from non-music first, I'd love to just talk about that, but no, other people have to be annoying about ethical purity

Anyway - Lit Me Up, what a masterful use of atmospherics. Stops me in my tracks every time I hear it

I'm biased against Macbeth because I had to watch it in junior high when we read the play and it bored me to tears then. But Repulsion is a rightful #1
