all I mean is when you have a good number of hip hop albums under your belt you'll be more apt to see why this album is really interesting but also why it is highly overrated

casual listeners of hip hop have the tendency to shit their pants when a mainstream artist drops an album like this or MBDTF, that is one of actual symbolism and substance. meanwhile they ignore the fact that the entire underground has been releasing albums of this quality or significantly better since day 1

what I appreciate is that this is more ambitious than any other hip hop album I've heard so far. Both lyrically and instrumentally. Plus I'm a sucker for concept albums, and this kinda checks that box. If you know of something similarly ambitious I'm taking recs.

since day 1 it was all nothing but underground so uhhh. also thing is that those underground artists may have the creativity to surpass the.. what would we focus on here- the beats, lyrics? but they didn't have the support and personality to carry their work into the collective hip hop consciousness

It's a neat addition if the songs link in an overarching way like this album but it's not a big deal if it doesn't.

right which is basically what I see here. there's something thematic going on, but it's not the musical equivalent of watching LOTR

I was pretty sure it was but couldnt or can't say how it is one. I know it's supposed to take place in the future hence the 3030 part.
