I really feel the angry leftist vibes on this one

Pigs TDO is kinda one where I always think "oh yeah the haha charade song, not as good as dogs or sheep but that's a fun one" and then when it's actually playing there's always some part or another I forget about that totally blows me away

It's weird for such an angry album I feel this has gelled very naturally with my efforts to have a less cynical, misanthropic outlook on life, the "deaf, dumb and blind" verse especially has kind of been my mantra for reminding myself that everyone's in this shit together, to kinda put compassion first whenever possible

I ironically have a very angry and cynical outlook on today's society in general, especially in the US, but it doesn't translate at all to my treatment of people around me I don't think.

Animals has really come up in my rankings over the years. Here's the writ as far as I'm concerned, and I've been listening to Floyd since 1978:

1. Meddle (Echoes rules and is Floyd's greatest achievement.)

2. DSOTM (I skip Money most times these days, tho.)

3. Animals

4. WYWH

5-ish: a mix cd of cool tracks culled from Ummagumma, More, etc.

6-ish: the first two records, though I don't listen to them anymore. I'd rather do some krautrock.

7-ish: why bother--too much other better music to spend time with. And I dislike The Wall.

[I anticipate this will be much disagreed with, but that's where I am.]

So, Final Cut has, like, one decent track on it (Not Now John).

There is one song on The Wall I like, though! The Day the Tigers Ran Free! But they cut it from the release and put it in the film.

No, you're wrong, @Kompys2000. Original vinyl didn't have Tigers. Snooze of an album overall. Comfortably Numb IS great, give you all that one, but radio killed it for me.

The greatest thing about TFC is reading about the band fights in making TFC. "The final cut" says as much about band relations as any great theme, ha ha.

It's kinda sad and too bad, tho: so much potential squandered.

I mean, by the time they broke up they had accomplished more than any other band ever had/even has, both musically and critically

If TFC and Momentary Lapse prove anything, it's that Roger and David needed each other - no matter how many conflicts and arguments they had

I'll take Roger thematically/lyrically over the rest musically

I bet I differ from a lot of floyd fans in that
