>Isn't From Russia With Love considered to be one of the best ever? I don't think that many people skip it actually.

If you had seen it, this question would not be likely. But like I said it's mandatory and you will thank me later.

His American accent is much better when he goes all deep south in Knives Out

Best Bond is Roger Moore.

Really, any Bond is fine, except Pierce Brosnan.

Also:
"Many online sites also commonly cite From Russia with Love as the best Bond film of all time."
"In 2008, Michael G. Wilson, the current co-producer of the series, stated 'We always start out trying to make another From Russia with Love and end up with another Thunderball.'"
"The British Film Institute's screenonline guide called the film "one of the series' high points" and said it "had advantages not enjoyed by many later Bond films,"
"In 2004, Total Film magazine named it the ninth-greatest British film of all time, making it the only James Bond film to appear on the list."

I still don’t understand how he only got two films, what a waste.

Weren't they slightly disappointing box-office wise? That would probably be it, or am I being too pessimistic now?

Looked into it a little, looks like a combination of poor box office and the resulting sale of the film rights.

Timothy Dalton apparently even thought the whole series would finish.

Such a pity. Even if you see him in something like Penny Dreadful he has this flair and uncompromising directness that really suits Bond as a character. And the looks.

Absolutely.

Alternatively, even though I’m not the biggest DW fan in the world, he always seemed a pretty obvious choice to play the Doctor to me. He had a bit part in Tennant’s finale, could have retconned him into the main role easy enough.

Living Daylights is my most watched Bond and the one I most clearly remember loving in the cinema
