I guess it’ll be a good time to dig in on them more with the new album coming up.
New song is pretty good but not all that memorable. Still they nail that certain sludgy, suffocating atmosphere that I dig.
Love all the album cover art. Captures the tone really well.

"I have no issue with one digging God's Country over Cool World. Yet we have to agree they stepped up the game here on being catchier and hookier with this one. Their audience got wider as hell because of that, without loosing steam or heaviness"
I can agree with this from a personal point, as I am part of that wider audience: had I heard God's Country first, I probably would have not tried listening to them again. This album, though, hooked me instantaneously--I love it, to the point of owning it on vinyl. And because I love this album, I can better appreciate God's Country, even though I don't like it as much. But I can *totally* see why someone would prefer it over Cool World. It's such a unique, abrasive art piece that isn't near as accessible.
Even though some elitists would disagree with me, I think that a degree of accessibility is almost always a good thing as bands write new material and evolve. Because otherwise you might not grab normies like me and miss out on gaining new fans.

They’re both great but GC has more classics. Not sure anything on CW touches Why, Anywhere, Tropical Beaches, Grimace

I also really just think the production is a lot better on Gods Country. That album is just one of the heaviest fucking things I think I’ve ever heard. The guitar tone is to die for

Yes completely agree. From the second I Am Dog Now kicks in, you can hear the step down on the prod
