I'm inclined to agree, Hardwired is solid too.

Can’t believe you imbeciles prefer Load to Death Magnetic. Production aside, they’re not even close.

Load is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too fucking long, and doesn't have nearly enough good material to justify the length. Same with ReLoad, but the songs are even worse on that one

Yeah death magnetic is best post black. Brick wall aside atleast it has some agression and sounds closest to 80s metallica. all nightmare long is best 2000s metallica track. Magnetic whips the floor with this album and the last one

Gotta agree with goodolboy here. All nightmare long dumps all over anything from this album

DM still reigns surpreme over the rest of Metallica's post-St Anger material for me. Also, I've never had much of a problem with the production tbh. I think Rubin's work on both DM and Black Sabbath's 13 is extremely overhated, and actually beefed up both bands' sounds substantially

"@Muzz: The Justice guitar tone makes every Metallica album sound better".
@ Willie. Somehow true haha. I've also been down the Metallica rabbit hole of vids, reviews and opinions on 72 seasons and how these songs are so reminiscent of old songs. check this vid.

A main theme out there has been that this may be their recording swansong and deliberately touched on every album released, like a summary of their discog. It reminded me of that Megadeth song Victory from youthanasia

DM with iTunes remaster is like their best sounding record since the black album paradoxically

inamorata isn't quite spit out the bone but would still be a great song to go out on
honestly of the opinion spit out the bone is maybe a top 10 song of their's period these days. some of their best post-80s riffs, james's vocals sound really great and on top of that has some of the best lyrics james ever wrote? they took the terminator/sci-fi concept and really knocked it out of the park the same way they did the war stuff on "one" and "bells" back in the day not only lyrically but instrumentally as well. really felt like they covered some new ground there

"Hey Koris, not including If Darkness Had A son is an epic fail bro"
Sorry, but the verses of that song do absolutely nothing for me, and neither do the "temptation" chants. I do enjoy the chorus, but that's about it. Never understood why so many people consider that one a highlight tbh

the chorus and the temptation parts are what sell the song. I've created an edit for the song that runs at 4:21 instead of 6:29 and holy shit it is way better. It punches way harder and is much easier to listen to. I've also done trimmed edits of the t/t and "Crown of Barbed Wire", might try to make a project out of shortening the album down to less than 60 minutes.

always thought darkness had a similar vibe to "of wolf and man" and "through the never"... could def see it being much better if it was the length of those aforementioned songs

Hey Koris i can understand not having it as one of your favorites, but eliminating it outright is a travesty. Great song man!
But you also omitted SF and TFG, which are also among the better songs for me.
If I had to eliminate two, Screaming Suicide and Chasing Light are gone...

Best song in the whole 77' is the last one. The bluesy 11 minutes, the rest is forgettable and just practice sessions. They can't compose anymore. They rich, they don't fight poverty, insecurity, PTSD, climate change. Nada. They chill and shout meezeree, oh, oh and here i am. I actually had totally different expectations than most from this album. I anticipated one with lounge music. I am disappointed. But also grateful. There is something for everyone in those 77 to like. I like the Inamorata.
