Yeah the pure chug chug heavy heavy isn't particularly my favorite vibe either. The melodies here it really depends on the song like Wax Wings is great but like the chorus of Wildfire is a bit weird to me. And there's not a Satellites tier song here imo.

Jammed this 5 times, think I finally got a solid opinion on this now.
Everything Is Fine is their new best song, Wax Wings/Wildfire/Zagreus are S tier, Dracul Gras rules hard despite nitpicks (the middle section is so so good), Thanks Nobuo is pretty great with some amazing parts but is the worst closer of their career (hope it really hits me one day), Atropos has many great parts but fuck me other parts are boring and go too long, Dying Star/Silhouette despite me appreciating the variety and break are big yawn and are duds for their standards. Album has too many interludes, and could be tightened up in places. Production is a step down from P4's.
Sooooo yeah definately a worthy entry in their cannon but has a few too many problems to be top tier. P4>P2>P3>P5>P1=Jugg

Thanks Nobuo is my new favorite closer from them, easily. It leans into all the fantasy vibes that originated with P1. Ambiguous lyrics that can be interpreted by anyone, a tone set in pure energy that rivals Masamune, tasteful synths and production that compliment the ethereal focus of the song, a long trance-y outro to carry you out. I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan so maybe I just resonate with it. It's just a love letter to people like me. I get huge Captain On vibes from it.

thanks nobuo has a lot of great parts but also one really annoying hook that i hate that drags the whole song down a peg
think this ranks below p2 for me actually so its bottom 3 periphery even tho i dig it

What part are you referring to? The "they know" part?

The final vocal run of Thanks Nobuo is mental, Spencer the MVP once again.

Thanks Nobuo is a tough cookie to rate for me. It's got a beautiful structure, things are paced really nicely, but I'm not entirely convinced by the melodies or the lyrics. But them being open to interpretation is nice.

that "another trigger in mind..." part. thats the one that sinks the ship for me

That one doesn't bother me really. I'm more perplexed at how people weren't seeing the CHVRCH BVRNER/Blood Eagle comparison with Everything Is Fine. Outside of that ending breakdown it's a bit paint-by-numbers aggression.

yeah Hail Stan was really bordering on beating P3 for me for a while, I'm just still partial to P3 because it got me into the band lol

"It has everything that was good about P2 in one song" I didn't hear any callbacks to Mile Zero or Scarlet on Thanks Nobuo.

Idk it's a great song but I'm slightly unconvinced by some of the melody choices.
