im gonna try to hold off listening in hopes they announce a ep or album is coming soon. glad to hear it's good though

Man Dante doesn't even sound bricked, it's just flat as fuck. What the hell happened Putney? They also walked straight into the trap lots of bands do when incorporating more electronic elements - forgetting your drummer exists. Which is twice the shame because they have a standout drummer and just push him to the side more and more. Also weird that Josh was talking about finding his love for playing the guitar again writing this album and then hearing this first. Hope they cowrote with someone for guitars as well and not just pop singers.
With all that being said it's a good song that could be much better.

I agree with the flat assessment. My biggest beef with it on first listen was that the chorus was hardly noticeable as a chorus at first. The verse just kinda played into it
|
| |
are you guys saying that Will Putney just trashed another song huh
|
| |
bring me the horizon has had such a horrendous influence on all these bands lol
metalcore bands and shitty electronics such an iconic duo at this point

bmth invented synthesizers and has copyright on all of them even the ones that don't sound like theirs agreed
|
| |
linkin park invented pissshit pop metal crossover; bmth were just the first to do it commercially successfully while exposing their pop preferences as bottom of the barrel edm crossover rather than cornball U2 worship
fuck em both, but at least LP made you cringe with empathy

you don't have to despise the (objectively great) music that played when you were in highschool just because you despise the you from highschool
definitely aren't killing his memory by doing so
it's okay to like good sounds without making excuses for it, putting up walls around it, explaining it away from a fabricated perspective that you think people want to hear
sorry lemme rephrase: lp owns fuk u

lol as if LP are a high school act. minutes to midnight was an opportune throwaway stepping stone record when i was 12 and i regret nothing. doesn't make it any less of a wash (and don't even start on the shite they released after)
|
| |
Minutes To Midnight actually broke my heart, as well everything that came after. Thousand Suns was at least a brief return to form
|
| |
a thousand suns was at once brave and brutally demonstrative that they didn't have the artistry to support anything beyond the scope of angsty radio metal
at least not down the vacuous concept-pop path they went - imagine an alternative timeline where they went way off into hip-hop and tried to make it as a '00s beastie boys -type thang. mhmm
|
| |
if you just cut out all the pointless fluff on Suns those are actually decent LP songs for the most part
|
| |
but that leaves you with 4 literal songs lol
will say that Waiting for the End (maybe their best song) and its b-side Burning in the Skies were exactly right for what they were aiming for then
|
| |
honestly all the tracks that go over 2 minutes I thought were good on that one. But that might also be a symptom of how utterly demoralized I was by them at that point. Post-Meteora was a rocky road
