Leon III and Dvne are ez the best of those

this year is tepid though. cannot visualise a particularly exciting AOTY list from either personal or popular picks

Actually sort of agree. I obviously love all those albums, but this one is skewed a bit by my own fanboyism for the band, Leon III is beautiful but not necessarily impressive, Dvne mostly floored me because I don't do metal, and Porter Robinson's I'm convinced is actually a bad album but I love it anyway because vibes. But with that said that's sort of how 2019 and 2020 were too. The last time an album just ran away with AOTY on its own objective merits, for me, was mwY in 2018.

Pahaha yeah, 2020 was saved by the combined cosmic talents of Fiona Apple and Seiko Oomori but it was definitely thin picking outside of them and a moderate handful.

2019's AOTY was a power pop EP and 2018 was the last year that picked a roster of absolute monsters (inc Untitled)

yeah the melody is def the best part of that song

I still wish the ending cashed in with something a bit heavier, but it's an all around great track

Bumped this to a 4.5. It's a damn grower and getting better with each spin. The first half is pretty immediately awesome, which makes me want to spin it a lot, and because of that the second part gets the needed time to grow. Awesome stuff.

It's a comic books thing, not anything to do with actual death metal lol

Yeah the give away was that none of the artists usually resemble anything close to death metal 😄

This track is basically what I’d expect from one of those “I had a computer write a Manchester Orchestra song and this is what it wrote!”

Got to tip my hat to the band for it being a very b-sidey b-side though. It’s refreshing that a band releases a track they left off and it doesn’t turn out to be the best thing they’ve written in four years.

the wildest part of this comic collab is that Andy Hull voices Lex Luthor
