Bilateral only just once > than Malina, because Malina may be inferior to other Leprous, but as a musical thesis it's phenomenal and has a distinct identity, while Bilateral is a superb album of modern prog, but still wears its influences on the sleeve

I wouldn't say Bilateral really wears it's influences on its sleeve since it really sounds like no other album I've ever heard
Malina definitely has its own identity, but it doesn't have the spark that Bilateral has for me

to be fair i jammed bilateral maybe twice and malina dozens of times so I'm clearly extremely biased.
but that also means that the initial sland toward one album over the other didn't just materialize out of nowhere.

Bilateral is easily their most difficult to absorb properly and needs a lot of listens and the right headspace to truly enjoy it. Waiting for your eventual 5ing of it Flug ;)

i really like the solo on the The Sky Is Red and i was having trouble as pinpointing why and, after spinning Bilateral again, realized that the one on Forced Entry is verrrry similarly styled
the chord-dragging, string-bending approach that Leprous has to soloing is really effective and refreshing
