It's all about generational cycles, in my opinion. This generation prefers other albums. Two/three years from now, Killers may be at the top of the lists again.

"why is this record ranked so low in most maiden lists? "

Because even though the music is alright, the voice is terrible. Di'Anno was (and still is) a terrible singer. Nothing to do with generations. His voice sucks and he can't hit the notes right (worse in lives).

DiAnno isnt a terrible vocaliat at all. Not any much worse than Dickinson tbh. Like neither of them are really the best vocalists around but they serve their individual sounds well. Its all just personal preference.

I consider Bruce one of the top 4 *greatest* metal vocalists, but greatness doesn't always necessarily equate to skill or performance. Homey frequently sings for extended sequences at the tip-top of his range, which he could barely do in a live setting back when he recorded it, and has some very obvious limitations to the range of STYLES he sings in. Much of his work is basically yelling in key.

Di'annos vocals suited their first 2 albums perfectly, he's a great vocalist. Bruce has a different style that suits Maidens style now, but Di'anno does an excellent job on their debut and this one.

This rules but def not their best. My fav Maiden albums are prolly Powerslave and Piece of Mind. I think I might be alone with Piece of Mind but oh well lol
