Sage That She Was Burning is good at least.... just good

I'm really disappointed. Struggling to even get through it. There's nothing interesting or immersive about it. It's like a watered down I Forget....with Dessner's occasional vanilla textures.

Well.

Whatshisface has actually freed Ben up a bit, lending a touch into making things musically lighter while retaining creative depth due to Ben anchoring it with solemnity and effectively assists in weaving together a true mainstream English folk album with modern day panache.

I absolutely fucking love it. Only listened once but I know it’ll grow.

I'll def give it some more time to work its magic. It reminded me of the latest Fleet Foxes in some ways. Coming from a grand, creative opus, it just feels so plain. But then again, there could be more nuance there that I'm not catching.

The fact that this album still hasn't hit a 4.0 avg is why I drink

I'm ready to dive into the new one, I'm expecting a step down in quality even if it's only minor

Lockdown mixtape vibes - think the new one is one of the better ‘obviously lockdown inspired’ releases.

Wouldn’t really count it as a direct follow up to this, track lengths are the clue

Maybe I need a proper sleep, but I'm finding the new one overwhelmingly good. Strange Last Flight of Richard Russell is seriously gorgeous. And Unfurling is fucking nasty, in the best of ways.

Ben’s melodies feel more plain than ever but they also have this lilting quality to them that pulls you in and compliments his guitar style, which is muted a bit by the Dessnerisms but still comes through clear enough, still sounds like Ben

Colton said it well. Somehow, while being not as immediately interesting as this melodically, it's keeping me pulled in. I woke up with it in my head and now I'm finding myself continually drawn to it.
