Degradating* ??!

I think it's "self-degradation", but "self-degrading" when used as an adverb.
I'll show myself out.

Some people itt have big avatar envy. That's what's really going on here
|
| |
I like a little heated discourse just as much as the next guy but I'd happily chop a few inches off my big avatar for everyone to just simmer down and realize that music discussion is much more fun when you can take it all lightly and razz each other with affable intentions

Never really even considered this music in regards to how derivative or not derivative it is. You simply don't think about things like that if the songs are well-written.

Well said Pots

@xing was almost the first thought that came to mind for me. but progressive metal in general has felt tired and overtrodden to me for a near decade. no level of song-writing ability can make up for such a lack of ambition and charisma. if it isn't exciting, ability doesn't mean much. on the flip-side terrible song-writers can make exciting, ambitious, charismatic music that hits the spot too. so much is going on in music that quality is nearly immeasurable by any sort of definite scale on a universal level, so my distaste for this isn't a slight at their technical ability by any means, but purely due to the fact that in the search for new metal that will reinvigorate my excitement for the genre this aint it fam
@source thanks my dude

Hey pots have you tried the new omnium gatherum?
|
| |
nope but im taking any and all metal recs these days in a desperate attempt to broaden my ever-narrowing musical preferences so i'll add it to the list
ive gone full circle in terms of the development of my tastes in my time on this site, when i started i almost exclusively listened to metal and thought electronic was the worst genre on the planet aside from country, then over time i eventually found things to enjoy in virtually every genre, but that kind of peaked and i started getting bored with more and more genres and somehow ended up nearly exclusively listening to electronic sub-genres
but now that a lot of that is starting to get boring for me and ive explored so much of it i'm tryna get excited about other stuff again

I understand. My interest in metal has also waned over the years

Lord. Your rate is upsetting the slugs...they will march upon you some day... And, not that you look interested, but you could check a bit of these 2 kids background to see this is (without a doubt) a charismatic and fresh release. Also your opinion is valid but not representative, and therefore, probably wrong.
|
| |
I'll look look into them, and sure I can't say that the guys themselves arent charismatic without any knowledge about them, I'm merely saying that their music lacks charisma (for me)
|
| |
Also my opinion is not representative of what/whom?

probably referring to the general consensus of the average rating here as that being the indication that your opinion on this album is somehow wrong
