Do people actually like this? Obviously I know this is considered a classic but I feel like I never see it on people’s favorite albums of all time lists.

‘Do people actually like this? Obviously I know this is considered a classic but I feel like I never see it on people’s favorite albums of all time lists.’
Yes? 🤷🏻…maybe it just misses the cut for some people (although I’m struggling to recall seeing many of those lists recently). It would certainly make mine.

Guess I got clowned but I do think there’s something to what Ryus said. Though I guess you could say the same for plenty of other ‘60s acts too. These guys just seem particularly absent from Internet discourse. Were they less directly influential than others of their contemporaries, perhaps?

Hmm, not sure... I think these guys are / were very influential though.
Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Joy Division etc. have all cited them as influences. I think there are loads more. I'm not sure what you're considering their 'contemporaries'.

this band definitely didn't "age well" for the new gen yea, I think a lot of people got sick of the jim morrison mystique--though I feel like I've heard more writers write about how much they dislike morrison's image than about how he's cool and has mystique--and then the sound is almost too particular to be transferrable to new gens unlike, I dunno, fleetwood mac. who da fuck usin an organ anymore
good album
