I mean the music of course
I am asking, because the ratings make me interested, but I am also not necessarily in a mood for feeling depressed, so I don't know whether or not I should check it out

I guess you're right. I am tired and talking nonsense

I mean it’s definitely depressing but it’s also super cathartic. One of the songs is essentially about how much the singer loved his late father

Is this the best A(men)ra?
I think so.

I was away from this website in 2017, so I didn't realize that this was pretty much the 4th highest rated album of the year (after Manchester Orchestra, Gang of Youths and Brand New... mostly white bread indie rock). Should be #1, arguably.

This albums closing couple minutes is the stuff of legends

Also which mix on streaming services is your favorite and why? There is quite a difference as far as I can tell

Van Eeckhout has the most irritating screams, it's literally at the most grating pitch possible and he absolutely refuses to deviate from it. He shows he has more range on Plague God but he just keeps hammering the same fucking pitch in Amenra
Instrumentally they're great but as soon as he opens his mouth he ruins it

Thats a very odd complaint and no Colin doesnt show more range with Absent Body, thats another band member, Colins not the sole vocalist of that band. Colins vocals are unique for this genre and pair well with the instrumentation, his vocals arent for everyone but they are harrowing and emotive and it works for them.
|
| |
They're emotive for the first 30 seconds then you realize every scream may as well be ctrl+c/ctrl+v
I know that's a thing with a lot of hardcore adjacent vocalists but his is at the most grating pitch
Weirdly enough I never minded when I used to listen to them but it's like nails on a chalkboard nowadays

I love Colin's vocals too. One of my fav Post-Metal vocalists of all time actually, uniquely expressive and emotional.

Anyone else think it's criminal that the two new eps had one unreleased song between the two and that the long form songs are practically identical and uninspired....alright I'm done with my bullshit. I'm just bummed. Even gave both eps about 5-6 full listens and still feel the same

The monologue in Flemish thing was really cool to me for a release but it’s definitely overstayed its welcome a bit
