Show Yourself would probably be fine if the band wasn't called Mastodon.
|
| |
yeah honestly its just a conventional rock track from a band thats rocked unconventionally for 15+ years.
i dont even like it that much but everyones acting like its a Creed cover song or something

it is kinda butt-rocky though. idk, i feel people actually like it only because the band's called mastodon
|
| |
What's "butt rock"? Like Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, mainstream type shizz like that?

I feel like defending it by saying "but people just hate it cause it's Mastodon" is kinda stupid cause if anyone other than Mastodon wrote that song it would go largely ignored

i.e it's unbelievably bland and lazy

If it weren't from Mastodon it'd probably be more popular because it's perfectly tailored for radio rock AND it wouldn't carry a heavy metal tag AND people wouldn't, as tempest said, treat it like a Creed cover. Let us enjoy it in peace.

Super enjoy the track honestly. I think the point of the above statement is that people expect a certain level of "innovation" from Mastodon, so when they do something pretty straightforward and catchy or whatever it feels "un-Mastodon".
Either way though I personally really like it when they make fun rock stuff every now and then.
