Objectively best? Yes.

But I liked his performance on the s/t the best. That plus I think that's their best album (I'm in the minority on that one).

It’s my favorite on this tbh. Could just be because this is far and away my favorite instrumentally and vocals are the last thing I focus on but whatev

There’s for sure some wear and tear but I wouldn’t call it bad, you’ll still catch me singing along.

That said, he’s been doing it for 20 years at this point. I won’t fault him.

I just did a new EQ for my earphones and wanted to shape it around making this album sound ok with them. The result strengthened my belief that the mixer of this album used flat-ish response earphones. And like, not just used the earphones, but based the FINAL MIX on them. This is very very bad and should not be standard industry practice. He/she used earphones (or bad headphones) that have a flat EQ curve and not ones that have the compensatory response for how the shape of the outer ear receives sound from a flat speaker or any sound that hits the outer ear first, since the earphone bypasses the outer ear.

I have a pair of Etymotic ER4 earphones. The response of these earphones is heightened in the 2-4KHz range (the part of the sound range that our ears amplify), because it mimics how we hear through regular speakers or regular around the ear headphones. This is extremely important for sound accuracy, because it means I can hear sound through them the way the mixer in the studio heard music through his/her studio monitors. When I create an EQ that gets rid of this 2-4KHz peak, The Stage sounds nearly normal. This, again, is bad. Without the EQ, the sound is nearly unbearable. Not only was this album mixed on earphones (or horrible monitors), but they were bassy earphones, because this album also needs a good amount of bass to sound pleasant. It was probably finalized with something low quality too, because with good headphones you can hear how uneven and clipped to hell this album is, but on cheap Skullcandy-like earphones it won't be nearly as noticeable.

I'm really done with new age mixers using sub woofers and literal earphones with a flat FR to mix albums. It needs to stop. Earphones should mimic studio monitors as closely as possible, there's no reason to change the standard because in the end it's arbitrary, but only benefits us if everyone follows the same standard.

I dig every Avenged album minus HttK.

The t/t here is their opus, epic track.

I don’t think it’s quite their best track, but that acoustic interlude is beautiful and Matt’s lyricism really shines

“Hope my wheels don't abandon me now,

Seeing that I'm out here alone

I'm running out of fight

And the wind speaks a comforting voice,

Guiding me to her arms

Mother, I'm alright”

really great lyrics on this entire record honestly. Still corny in places, but still great.

And I’ve probably said it here before but Higher is fucking incredible and it might be my favorite track out of all their albums

can't figure out why this has a 3.6 average. They're trying harder, I guess, to make better music with a higher level of musicianship but this still is boring as fuck.

Not really though. It's a bunch of bullshit with them trying too hard to sound proggy and elite. They're not good at it. They'd be better off just playing some cool riffs ala Waking the Fallen (still the only album worth listening to by this band).

City of Evil still best for me, but this is their second by a very narrow margin.

Yeah I'm a bit odd when it comes to that one. City of Evil is far and away their worst to me.
