The highlights on IV are arguably better than the ones here, but overall this album might be the most layered, carefully produced of all. It's such an encompassing experience.

The entire run on Act II from The Lake and the River to Red Hands is insanely good. But not as good as this or IV.

IV is so damn corny and lame a good chunk of its runtime and gives into every over the top impulse the band has, in the worst way

IV sounds like a Disney soundtrack half the time and that's a very, very good thing.

The Haves Have Naught is the most Disney song never released by Disney. The March probably as well.

I never thought about it, but damn, this is very Disney-esque at points. Still, AOTY, no question.

One of 4 AOTY contenders for me, I still have no idea which one is going to take it

Cool. Out of curiosity, what are your other AOTY contenders?

Vektor, Devin Townsend, and Norma Jean

Just couldn't get into Vektor, not sure why but it hasn't clicked for me. Norma Jean was awesome. Haven't checked Devin Townsend yet.

"Grew off me. Still a great band and incredible series of albums, but to me this doesn't touch II or IV."

It almost grew off me too - but then it came back. I think it's important to remember that this album is extremely polished and precise whereas II and IV had their very raw moments (For lack of a better description). So I appreciate them differently. For a solid specific vibe I'll pull out this album, then for that pure chaotic vibe I'll pull out II for example. Which I find to be superior to IV. In order for me would be II,V,IV...

For me it's V, IV, II but those are easily their top 3, yeah. It's not on this album but the Bitter Suite reprise in Night on the Town gave me serious chills the first time I heard it.

First time I've seen a 4.1 with mostly 5 ratings. Nice.

Same about the bitter suite reprise. Honestly almost made me tear up. It was my favorite part of the album 100%

That 4.2/4.3 was nice while it lasted

This isn't as good as the first two acts, but better than the last two imo
