it's an interesting debate to be sure - yeah it's harder to be a 'career' band/musician... but consider how much easier it is for smaller bands/artists to get their music out their thanks to sites like BandCamp, etc. Sure they might not get the exposure like bands did in the past, but there's an actual platform for them to get their music out there in some form.
