On the bright side, this would be an incredible album to end their career on...

these guys should be hanging their heads high that they went out with a bunch of quality releases and didn't become complete dogshit like another swedish band that rhymes with shmopeth

The band is on hiatus, "on hold" as they said. The reasons are undisclosed but Ojersson was recently hospitalized. The hiatus was announced last December, they "need to take some time out to re-evaluate what the future holds for the band". No reason to panic for now, they teased a 10th anniversary edition of NITND for 2019 so there's that

Oh here I was thinking that I missed an announcement. Yeah. The hiatus ain't so bad. Read about that a few months ago. Been listening to a lot of their last release. If that record is these guys' last, then they should be proud of never stagnating or allowing their releases to gradually worsen.

That's news to me. The closest thing I've heard to a 10th anniversary NITND commemoration was when Niklas was posed a question in an interview regarding playing the whole album live considering the band's track record of playing LFDGD, VE, and TGCD when the three celebrated its 10th anniversary. Unless they release a 5.1 mix of it, I don't see the point of reissuing it period cause all the B-sides and remixes done during that album cycle are on the "Tour Edition" which was released during the band's 20th anniversary year and from what I last saw, still easily available.

Oh, I remember that exchange. Yeah, if they were to go down the 10th Anniversary TGCD box set route w/Bruce Soord giving it the 5.1 treatment. I'd most certainly would get it.

Yeah I love it. Despite the lyrics the atmosphere isn't particularly depressive and the instrumental side makes it enjoyable in every mood I'm in

The atmosphere on this album's great...it's especially great during the late hours at night. Then again most Katatonia albums are best listened to during said hours at night.
