It is to me. All bangers, Opeth classics from start to finish. It has a nice grittyness to it which is just plain delicious. Plus it has both April Ethereal and When m/m/m/m/

It has pretty much everything people love about this band. It's heavy, it has deep growls, there is plenty of melody und acoustics, it's moody, the songs are great, it feels very cohesive and so on.

4th best, still awesome. I should probably re-5 this, rating stuff in the context of the artists' discog is a pointless endeavour.

Best Opeth. They were at their best when they trimmed the fat from their songs and showed more overt death metal influences

What did you hear first?

For me this one has all those nice memories you get with buying music in a store. I was in a goth shop with lots of clothes and merchandise, but they had a little metal collection. (They still do but it's still metal from the 90s they're trying to get rid of...).

I didn't even know Opeth had made a new one when I leafed through their cds, and suddenly seeing this gave me much joy. I felt like I was stealing that cd when i paid ~$20 for it. Kept a low profile so I could have this little secret for me.

Because I was also the only person I knew who liked Opeth. And I didn't want competition.

Well, time for my nap. Now run along, you little scallywags.

Ghost Reveries was one of the first extreme metal albums I heard. Got me into heavy music along with a few others so I have a special connection with it.

Hear hear. I really don't associate that with much, so all I've got is 'it's a really good Opeth album'.

No need to choose bro, both are absolutely on par. Opeth at its best.
