I sorta hope they ditch the gaze and go with more post-rock next time. Fifteen minute Weakling worship trackz pls. They've already got the chugging down.

I love how this just came out and we're already talking about what we want the next album to sound like.

Fact of the matter is, the band is seemingly only concerned with what they want to sound like, so having any sort of expectation in advance is likely just going to let you down... unless of course by some fluke chance they actually fulfill your specific expectation.

All this record showed me is that they have no real idea of what they want to sound like. It's got its moments but overall it's not that great. Just good.

I'd disagree. There's very little on this album that I do not enjoy. It may not be Sunbather, but I have Sunbather so when I want to hear Sunbather, I'll listen to it. This is pretty damn cool in other lights. Loving the melodic aspects of the album and how they almost come out of nowhere. On the opposite side of that, there are parts of this album that hit harder than anything they've put out so that's pretty sweet as well.

Sunbather works better from start to finish"

Couldn't agree more.

@JS They did not "make" the blackgaze sound. Alcest was doing it before them. Maybe they formed a new approach to it? But they did not pioneer the type of music as a whole.

Oh no I don't think they made it at all, I was just using an example of how much the media hyped it. Alcest didn't really 'make' it either, just popularised it

Ya just pointing that out, idk who made it either. Just one example of who was doing it before them is all.

Nice dig btw!

Thanks dude - I slept on that album for ages after hearing Wake/Lift and thinking *eh, Rosetta isn't for me'. Stuck the two discs together in Audacity a few days ago too, wow

This album is better than Sunbather by a considerable margin in my opinion.
