Oh I was talking about Rishloo haha. Honestly I don't hear Tool in Alchemy Alice, Shades, Pandora, or To Tame The Temporal Shrew at all.

Rishloo aren't Tool, but they're not exactly extraordinary either.

Disagree hard but to each his own. I wish I had done an Eidolon review now cause I my first review did not do it justice at all lol

Oh, lol. I think they definitely developed their own sound over time, but for me personally Eidolon

and Terras Fames had an aesthetic that evokes Tool much more than Karnivool ever did (that said, I

enjoy Eidolon a lot).

Maybe the bass tones but Eidolon just different in terms of Philosophy, lyrical style, and overall sound. It's also vocally focused where Tool is usually focused on the music. Idk I guess just cause it's one of my all time favorite albums I'm trying to defend it. Though saying you sound like Tool isn't really an insult haha

Yeah, lyrically the album is very different for sure. You're dead on about the bass tones though, Omega being a perfect example.

Terras Fames though, yea. Stuff like Seven Rings, Romance, and The Water Is Fine is Tool like, but still love it

It is just a minor structural influence on Sound Awake that draws the Tool ripoff comments.

I like them enough but I can actually understand the tool comparisons for once. Production ruins ALL their albums though

Feathergun production is great dude. Eidolon's is subpar but doesn't bother me. I'm just sick of every

band with that bass tone being called Tool rip offs.

Bumping this. Just listened again and this is nowhere near as average as I remembered lol

"Haha he sounds like he's strained to hit those notes though imo"

He hits them pretty easily imo. When i saw them earlier this year, he nailed that part with little trouble.

"But they sound more like tool here"

I think the complete opposite. The only part here which sounds anything like Tool is the sofer part in Nachash. Most of the album is way to dissonant/Meshuggaish to sound like Tool. There's also a lack of the 'Toolish' delayed guitar on this album. Sound Awake had much more of a Tool influence in it (though, it had it's own personality).

It's really just the prominent bass, clean vocals, odd time signatures and delayed guitar that have any connection to Tool. Karnivool are way more melodic, poppy and have less emphasis on riffs and more on texture.

Feathergun is a fantastic album but I can't get into their first two as much. Eidolon has 5 or 6 gems on it

Whole album is a gem to me. Though I feel like Terras fames is more for seasoned Rishloo listeners. It's definitely not a good intro to the band
