I feel pretentious af for not 1ing this haha.

But really though when I was completely 100% focused on the sine wave, I felt rather weird and felt almost animalistic emotions stirring. Don't think I was in the right mood to fully appreciate whatever this album is trying to do.

Album could have had like 10 minutes shaved off of it though, specifically 40:00-50:00

Feels so awesome when the album is over and you take your headphones off to complete silence.

Not pretentious at all, I view PE the same way as I would jazz and classical music (this album I dont think is PE but my experience with some of my more favorite pieces from this genre is quite akin to yours). I think it's awesome you experienced something unique from painful sine waves

Also you should now check out the Sachiko M and Eddie Prevost

Will check that probably tomorrow night. Is it more then two sine waves?

Shouldn't that happen with pretty much any vaguely atmospheric music you listen to for a while?

yeah, but not really. the effect is really quite different. comparing the effect of this ending and say one of vomir's walls dropping out would be wrong, even when both pieces exercise the same kind of ~complete~ minimalism, for they evoke quite different physical responses.

@alexk
the sachm/ep collab is a lot more dynamic than this, and relies less on sine waves, so if you loved this, it's not the most obvious recommendation. i'd err towards you trying i'm here... departures, or good morning, good night for more of sachiko's work. it's probably worth your while checking out otomo yoshihide's cathode and some of toshimaru nakamura's nimb works if you want to branch out a bit more though.

This is easily a 5 on a conceptual basis.

idk, I'd give it a 3 on conceptual basis, when you think about it, it's not actually that mind blowing a concept

Never claimed it was, I just have a lot of respect for this being definitive anti-music.

"Never claimed it was, I just have a lot of respect for this being definitive anti-music." Lou Reed already did that with Metal Machine Music a long ass time ago on a bigger scale (not to mention committed career suicide in the process)

Edit: if this is a 5, then by your logic, MMM deserves a 5. Haven't seen your ratings but I'm just saying
