Surprised this site doesn't dig this more, one of my favourite albums of all time. Must be the vocals?

nah the vocals are easilyyyyyy the best part about this band to me. all of their singers have had tremendous voices but the instrumentals always come off as a bit tepid after listening to half an album.

I do like them though.

Yeah I never got the hate on the instrumentals on this one. I do think there's enough variety for a four-suite song. And it lasts 40-45 minutes, not like anything that overstays its welcome. I personally love the atmospheres, the melodies.. One of my favourite discs in this decade

A lot of it lacks direction imo

The only complaint I have about this album is the drums were not recorded live, so the drums on the album were partially programmed.

New song feels like it's part of something else and doesn't sound like a standalone piece of music.

I never liked this album very much but I got really high one time and it came on shuffle and I couldn't move to turn it off and I ended up having like an out of body experience to the music and all I can remember is this extreme feeling of self hate and loathing that I was having this experience to a band as objectively entry level and pleb as Tesseract.

Sounds like you're still high as fuck.

Everything up to One was cool but they're kinda lowest common denominator after that.

I'm so fucking sick of saxophone solos popping up out of nowhere in prog rock/prog metal albums and ruining whatever tone or atmosphere a song is trying to get across. Not that the album loses points for it, but good god is it ever annoying, especially when it doesn't fit the mood at all.

Seeing these guys in Glasgow on Saturday. Should be good as long as they don't decide to preform an entire album front to back, thus no filler, which is really my biggest gripe with their discog thus far. Hopefully no saxophones either.
