It's just a solid album to me

I initially hated this because of the no screams and no guitar riffs, but it grew on me

More so he's just yelling, only thing I'd consider a scream is the "OH" that he does in the breakdown for House of Wolves. He does a lot of sing yelling that he wasn't able to pull off live lmao

I'm just glad I got to see them in 2010 before his rapid decline

I mean yeah they aren't the best and Oli is probably the weakest part of this record (as he is on all of their albums) but honestly this is my favorite performance from him. I prefer these screams to his TIAH and earlier screams.

His screams aren't fantastic but they sound sincere, which is what I like about them.

‘It's like every time he opens his mouth he's in pain’

Much as I enjoy it, that describes pretty much every screamed vocal ever.

I think Fish is the best thing to happen to this band, and I much prefer the varied instrumentation here (with all the samples and, more importantly, dynamics) over the unrelenting loudness from their earlier work. My favorite song from their first 3 albums is Don't Go which is probably the most Sempiternal-esque song, so it makes sense.

Additionally this album has far, far better production than anything that came before. Shadow Moses is beautifully mixed. The snare sounds fucking awesome most of all but not a single layer (and there are a lot) gets lost.

How so? It’s called ‘screaming’ for a reason haha

Like I said, I enjoy it. But it’s not exactly what you’d call a pleasant vocal style.

I think what he means is that Oli's sound forced, which, honestly I think they might be.

The thing is, his best vocals are easily There Is A Hell/Sempiternal era; the early BMTH screamed vocals sounded fucking ridiculous.

This is way better.

Still think Fish was the start of the downfall

Sorry man but I can’t stand Oli’s older vocals ):

I LOVE the early Lee Malia guitar work though; it’s a shame he doesn’t solo more these days the guy has chops.
