Just gave this the first full spin in a while. While I'm glad they experimented it's ultimately one of the band's worst albums, even if I still like it overall. There are parts in every song I like and parts in every song I dislike. For instance Courage of the Knife has cool verses but the chorus is probably the band's worst ever lol. The songs structures are sometimes very cool but a lot of the guitar parts are so boring and I think that Dan Trapp was restrained by them - him and Garrett were kind of an essential duo that played off each other very well. I think it was actually good they changed drummers for the next album as Chris Hornbrook was much less reliant on guitar to inspire his parts, and I think the drumming was a lot better because of that stylistic difference. However it's also true that when Dan Trapp is at his best he is a much better drummer IMO, which is why this album just feels misdirected to me.



Also, I could turn off the album after track Ancient Tombs. Definitely the 4 least interesting tracks in a row there.
