I definitely agree; this is the album that introduced me to the band, and most other stuff of theirs that

I've jammed afterwards was underwhelming. Except Dethroned and Uncrowned, which is one of the most legit

acoustic reworkings albums I know.

About the album art, whoever likes it might want to check Kocytean. The artwork was created by Travis Smith, who did it also for Opeth, Anathema, Nevermore, Bloodbath, October Tide, Amorphis and plenty more. I loved the art that's why I wanted to know who's behind it.

Bows to the guy.

stylistically speaking they're very similar albums. the vocals sound the same, they have lovely string arrangements, punchy riffs, pervading dark atmosphere. i enjoy this too, i just think it sounds a lot like a continuation of night, which has better standout songs imo.

Those two tracks and "Forsaker" are the only good ones on Night, while every single song here is great at the very least.

Night has better standout tracks, but this is a better album in the purest sense of the word, in that the songs form a cohesive unit that is greater than the sum of the individual parts. Night is wholly reliant on those standout tracks to drag along the dead weight that is the remainder of the album.

I thought Night was boring for the most time, this is better by a long shot.
