No, I do not see cheese either. The only area that could be cheesy is their lyrics because that's the only area I haven't been paying attention to so I don't know. However, I just looked up the lyrics to Turn Soonest to the Sea and they are amazing, great message.

Layered vocals are cheesy.
I'm not trying to be a dick here, but from what I understand, you like pop music, and doesn't a lot of pop music have layered vocals? Once again, I mean no bad blood, just genuinely curious.
I have no gripes about this save for the harsh vocals being a bit inaccessible at first.
Aren't all harsh vocals inaccesible, or do I just not know enough about metal?

With all this recent cheese talk, this might be sorta of on topic now. I couldn't listen to the end of Turn Soonest To The Sea for the first month or two when I got this album; it was a huge turn off. Reminiscent of Broadway theatrics or oh here we go again with the Disney movie part again, the really upbeat poppy guitars mixed with the choir vocals seemed embarrassing. My fingers always seemed to hit the skip button.

I used to think that part was really good. Then when I read the lyrics, it became my favorite part of the album

I think they're cutting a lot of that shit out of their new record, i.e. the cheese.
Which makes me happy!

Fortress review should be up in about four hours. Please let this awful review die peacefully.

Lengthwise it is. It's around 2000 words. I had it at 1800, and went to chop it down, but I ended up rewording a lot to make it read better rather than simply cutting stuff down and it ended up getting longer.

My reviews mostly go around the 1000 word mark :-/

I try to keep mine under 1000 but sometimes I have a lot to say.

I think longer is better (gay innuendo, sorry), but I'm not exactly a busy person, so I have time to read a lot.

I'm not sure if I'd like this. This was a good review Cocaine, one of your best IMO, which makes me intrigued by this.

This review is horrible, IMO, it's just a description and lots of context and triviality. Plus it'll cause some problems when my Fortress review is up, because that'll have a 4.5 while it's better than this, which I rated a 5. For clarity, this is actually a 4. I just have a lot of personal attachment to this album.
I dont really know if you'd like this either. Worth a shot though. The vocals will be the most grating for sure for you because his cleans are layered and tend to border on a whiny intonation (which has been rectified on Fortress). This Message Edited On 01.16.08

if you give this time and enough listens, it grows big time.
I found this to be the opposite after many listens. Its got stale and boring to me. Especially since their new album makes this look like childs play.
