inveigh: are you serious? no genre, except maybe pop, has had even half the pressure that hiphop's had to put out music to the quality-ignorant who eat it up because they don't know any better. there's infinitely more hiphop that's been tolerate and even hyped in the mainstream that sounds like it was made in garage band. in terms of the discrepancy between low and high quality, hiphop has definitely had it the worst, by far.
