I don't think it's an enjoyable album, per se.

The bleepiness either triggers some lightbulb you never knew existed in the corners of your brain, or it plain annoys you to fucking Mars and back.

Yep, it's definitely the greatest album of all time. Meanwhile, in the real world...

I prefer Illinois, it feels more honest to me, but this one is still pretty great.

Illinois is a record that feels more emotionally conscious to me, I can see why someone would make a comment like that?

this record is completely unrelatable, but i mean that in the best possible way. it's like, the message of this record is "you will NEVER be as awesome as sufjan".

I have this on vinyl piano, almost gave it to jash for his birthday but kept it and gave him Do Make Say Think instead (which is what I intended to give him anyway).

Also, this might have been a while ago, but I think that this is a fine choice for favourite album of all-time or best or whatever. I think it's a huge album that will be showing up on lots of decade lists.

ANYWAY

the gatefold packaging and artwork is supercool but impossible soul is split up so that the last 3 minutes are on side C and the rest of the song is on side D which may annoy you or not

But the last 3 minutes of Impossible Soul are the best! I'd find that annoying, personally.
